Reasons I love my friends and family

I went to the Rockies with some of my favorite ladies!!!

You want to know what makes my life awesome? Awesome seat compliments of Steph's work, seeing the Kendall brothers at the game and also running into my cousin Eddie (his baseball team is headed to the Juco World Series and I'm going).

I love life (minus the loss and the lack of offense).

Coco

Last night my roommate Stephanie and I had a roommate date. We made some delicious margherita pizza and watch "Coco Before Chanel."

Oh how I loved this movie and felt inspired to be different. Sometimes it is so easy to feel insecure about the things that make us different from the norm. I'm going to try to own that, to march to the beat of my own drum.

To My Darling Mother

Happy Mother's Day to the most amazing mother!

These past few months my mom has been living in San Antonio, Texas, while I have remained in Colorado. These months apart have really taught me how much I value the time I spend with my mother and the relationship we have spent countless hours developing.

I miss you mom and I can't wait for you to come back to Colorado!!!!

Thank you for being a great example of a strong woman, and thank for for passing along those attributes to me!

25 Years

I am officially 25 years old. It is 12:13 a.m. as I write this and since I was born in Mountain Standard Time, I think it is safe to say I am 25.

Not to be all dramatic (but let's be honest, it's me we're talking about here) but turning 25 seems surreal. I feel like I should have my life together and I should have more things figured out... but alas, I feel like I'm play pretend while everyone else has fully entered adulthood.

Here are my reflections on turning 25:

1. I have watched more than the average person's lifetime worth of baseball game. I hope that the amount of time I've spent watching baseball only increases with age.

2. My biggest accomplishment is the assortment of clothes, shoes and handbags I've collected through the years. When I think of all the money that went into that wardrobe it makes me cringe.

3. Ok, so that isn't my biggest accomplishment, but I don't feel like my blog is the appropriate outlet for a list of my accomplishments.

4. The most important things are the relationships with my family and friends. Looking back the best decisions I have made are the decisions where I have put my loved ones first.

5. When my first instinct is to get defensive, it usually means that I am in the wrong.

6. I never, ever, want to have my job/career define me.

7. I think character is be revealed in the way that someone treats his or her immediate family, as well as random strangers.

8. It always pays off to carry a safety pin.

9. Cleanliness is next to godliness (if only I could master that).

10. Flowers are therapeutic.

11. It pays to take time to be silly and to care for your creativity.

12. Babies are great.

13. No matter how old I feel at 25 I can find solace in the fact that my brothers are older.

That is all I've got for now. A random list of what is going through my mind. Please take the fact that it is now 12:24 a.m. into account when you read this.

I am my Father's Daughter and Other Random Thoughts

Today is the loveliest day of the year to date.

While I was on my lunch break I found myself with a few thoughts I would like to share

-I am my father's daughter. I had to run to the home depot on my lunch break (I'm legit like that) and I couldn't help but stop of the hot dog vendor for lunch. Gross hot dogs right? I got all nostalgic and thought of random Saturday trips to home depot with my dad that always included a stop at the hot dog stand.

-Nothing beats driving with the windows down listening to She&Him.

-Sometimes I am reminded that Sports Authority is an awesome place to work. Today there was a salsa contest. About 25 people made salsa, according to specific categories, and we got to taste them all and vote on our fave. Fantastic Cince De Mayo activity!

-I love the anticipation leading up to my birthday, almost as much as I love my birthday. I don't like it when people down play birthdays.

-I'm on the hunt for a great birthday dress... I let you know what I find.

-I need more baseball in my life. A lack of cable makes for a sad Jillian during baseball season.

-I miss J Dawgs.

Hair

***Click here for a post with some tips for growing out a pixie.

I had this brilliant idea to get a pixie cut. It was great for a little while. I felt like the short hair suited me.

Now I'm growing it out. Growing out the pixie is probably one of the most frustrating things I have had to deal with. Every single day I feel differently about it.
Today with the rain outside forcing the back of my hair to start curling... all I want to do is chop it all off again.

But alas, I know exactly what I will do. I will continue to grow out my cut until the last week in May. That is when I will go in to get it reshaped for Heather's wedding. Clean it up a bit.

Here is a little peek at the length I'd like to see by the fall...

Dang you Carey Mulligan for making it look like it's so easy to grow out.
