Afternoon DMV

I have spent majority of the afternoon at the DMV and I am about 34 people away from getting service. It had been a long afternoon. I would like to share a few thoughts with y'all, this experience needs to be documented and I need to pass the time.

1. People should not bring their children to the DMV, this is better birth control than a trip to target. I understand that parents do what they have to, but I can't handle it. I'm lacking in the maternal instincts department.

2. BYU is awesome, No. 3 in the rankings this week! I hope they come to denver for the first two rounds of the tournament.

3. Technology is amazing. I have kept my sanity through this process because of my awesome phone. I almost downloaded a book on my kindle app, but I'm too cheap for that.

4. I'm about 24 people away now. A lot off people must have given up hope and I'm reaping the benefits!

5. The DMV brings together the most random group of people in the world. Looking around this room is actually making me laugh.

6. The people I work with are fantastic. They're so accommodating and kind. Between the basement flooding and strep, they have been so helpful. It's great to have people like that around.

7. Oh no another crying child. I feel bad for the people who work here, just being here is exhausting.

8. I can't wait to get back to the gym. Strep sidelined me most of last week, so I'm ready to get back on the game. I have fitness goals involving pullups and a timeline to keep.

9. People just keep flooding in the doors, they don't know what they're getting themselves into

10. Oh no, public whistling... Enough said.

Only ten people away... I'm going to conclude this now in case they just fly through everyone.

Happy monday!

Spring Training

When I walked outside yesterday, I was pretty sure that it was still winter here in Colorado but apparently it is Spring down in Arizona because Spring Training games have begun. And by that I mean there was one yesterday and a handful today.

Does anyone miss baseball season as much as I do? Or as much as my weird family does? No, I don't think so.

My brother called me today to tell me that his season officially begins tomorrow (he coaches in a little town outside of Vegas). My dad's high school team started practicing a few weeks ago. Even my little brother's teams is gearing up for the summer.

I CAN'T WAIT. I will wait, because I have to. Oh man, I'm ready for warm weather and summer evenings at Coors Field!

Sick

Sorry for the lack of updates on the blog this week. I’ve been debilitated by a case of strep this week. Does it make me feel like I’m nine years old? Yep, it sure does.

On the bright side, I was able to get some medicine and I’m feeling much better although not even close to 100 percent. My work has been very accommodating, I think a good portion of this comes from my bosses fear that I’ll get him sick but I’ll accept it anyway.

SLEEP. I love it. This gives me an excuse to do it ALL DAY LONG!!! I think I worked for an hour, went to the doctor and then slept all day Wednesday until I decided that I needed to try to eat. Then I went straight to bed.

This brings me to the only other reason strep can be good, there is no need to fight off cravings of candy and massive quantities of bread and pasta when you have absolutely no appetite. I don’t even feel guilty that I ate a doughnut that my boss brought in for food Friday because I’ve barely eaten all week.

Best Weekend Ever

Ok, so I can't say that because the weekend hasn't come yet. However, I am fairly certain that this might be the best weekend ever.

This is my best friend.

And she recently decided that she would like to marry this guy and he bought her a really sparkly ring.

So I'm going here

To shop for one of these.

And I'm going to see this little thing and her momma.

And a bunch of my closest friends that I abandoned when I moved to Colorado.

Red

When I visited my mom and Cris in San Antonio, we spent an afternoon in Fredericksburg. It was awesome.

The town is a little German settlement in the hill country. There are a variety of antique stores and little home and clothing boutiques and I could have spent several days exploring. My mom told me there was one store that I was going to love called Red and she was right! Unfortunately it was closed that day... so sad.

I actually peered in all the windows and took a few shots with my camera (for inspiration purposes in the future). Today I discovered that they have an online store, as well as a blog. I love, love, love everything here (thanks mom). Unfortunately it's well out of my price range, but still great to use for a little DIY inspiration.

Even better that they have a lookbook.

BYU Pride

Last week I attended the BYU men's basketball game at the Air Force Academy. Lisa hooked me up with some great seats and I took my little brother Reggie. We had a great time at the game and Reg was impressed with exactly how good Jimmer was. the cadets were loud, and they made sure their taunts were heard. It made me miss working in the athletic department!

On a separate note, do you notice the similiarities between my hair cut and Jimmer's? I did.

Spin

I really enjoy spinning. It’s a killer workout smashed into a 60 minute session that always makes me feel great.

Those 60 minutes are always grueling. I’d like to take you through my thought process at last night’s spin class:

5:55 p.m. – wow, look at that guy in front of my, he’s already dripping in sweat. The floor around him is drenched and class hasn’t even begun. Man I hope that no one did that to my bike today. Gross.

6:02 p.m. – Let’s get this thing going.

6:03 p.m. – Oh crap. Is my seat too low, he keeps going over the proper form and I don’t know what half of these words mean.

6:08 p.m. – I already want to die. Should my first hill be this hard? Oh man, not a good sign for tonight.

6:15 p.m. – This is supposed to be recovery? No way. Wait, is this Blink 182? Yep, All the Small Things. Man that reminds me of eighth grade.

6:20 p.m. – I’m this tired and I’m only 1/3 of the way through. I’m already getting sweaty

6:21 p.m. – Man, those girls triceps are nice. I wish mine looked like that. Maybe one day someone will be in here saying that about me.

6:30 p.m. – Why isn’t the girl with the nice triceps sweating. She doesn’t even look winded.

6:31 p.m. – What the heck is this other girl wearing. Are those neck ruffles on a gym shirt? Really… really?

6:40 p.m. – I think the only vocab this guys knows is harder and more resistance. He’s killing me.

6:41 p.m. – I’m starting to learn that every time he says get a drink he really means, wipe the ridiculous amount of sweat off your face because I’m going to make this so much harder.

6:42 p.m. - Jack's Mannequin - awesomeness. This guy's music selection blows, but I'm happy to hear this song.

6:45 p.m. – Only two more hills on the climb, oh wait did he just say that they will be the hardest climbs of the night.

6: 50 p.m. – I don’t think my resistance can go any higher. I won’t have the strength to push the pedals.

6:55 p.m. – Awesome cool down. Finally. That was hell.

7:00 p.m. – So glad that hot guy was here, nothing quite says attractive like a ton of sweat and an inability to stop gasping for air… where’s my inhaler?

7:05 p.m. – I feel great. I think I could do that all over again.

14 Below

Do any of you know how painful 14 below zero feels? It’s so cold that your lungs hurt if you accidentally take more than a shallow breath, yet the air moving through you nose freezes your nostrils. Super Awesome.

On the bright side. Fewer people attend the gym when it’s this cold outside. I’m still waiting for those new years resolutioners to give up on the gym. I think it’ll be back to normal by the end of February.

On a completely unrelated note, I saw country strong last night and I liked it more than I thought I would and I fell in love with this song.

Stay warm!

Freezing Cold

On Friday it was over 60 degrees in the Denver area. Saturday was almost as nice. Sunday was nice enough that I didn’t need a jacket when I went to church.

It is currently 13 degrees below zero right now. The weather reports say that with the wind chill we should expected it to be between -20 and -40.

Awesome.

All I want to do it curl up in a ball and sleep until spring. Hibernation anyone???
