Oh Friday...

Today seems like it is dragging on. I am so ready for the weekend to begin. It’s amazing how precious your weekend becomes when you start working a desk job. At BYU my major didn’t offer classes on Fridays, so it was always a long weekend. I typically filled it by working various athletic events. Now I long for Saturday to come because I know I get to sleep a little bit more, and Sundays are reserved for relaxation, usually with family and sports thrown in.

I just have a few thoughts at the end of this week.

  1. A number of my friends and their families have recently been affected by major tragedies. My heart goes out to those people affected by tragedy and the loss of a love one. I just wanted to make sure those people knew that they and their families still remain in my thoughts and prayers.
  2. Anyone else ready for Spring Training?? Keith Law released his ranking for the top 100 prospects and it’s got me all sorts of excited for the coming season. Check it out here.
  3. Jimmer is legit. The national recognition is crazy. I love to see BYU on Sportscenter. I’m excited to see what will happen in March!
  4. My glutes hurt. Every day I feel like it’s a different aching muscle group. Does it make me a masochist if I like the feeling?
  5. I’ve been listening to Foxy Shazam all day and I’m loving it!

Have a great weekend

Amarillo By Morning

Ok, so I'm not going to Amarillo, but I can't help but think of that song when I think of San Antonio - which is where I will be visiting this weekend!

A few things I'm looking forward to:
1. Seeing my mom and Cris
2. Escaping the freezing cold snow
3. The Spurs
4. Exploring a new city - Riverwalk, The Alamo...
5. Eating out (because that is what my mom and Cris do)
6. The fact that a "cold front" is moving in so it will be in the 60's and 50's while I'm there... it's 13 degrees here.

On His Last Leg

Fell in love with this immediately. Enjoy

P.S. I tried the gym after 7 p.m. last night, thinking that might help my cause, but alas it was still just as packed as it is at 5 p.m.!

Sugar

Every time I read about the amount of sugar that Americans eat, it freaks me out. Remember when I decided that I shouldn't eat refined sugar...

Well, I'm back at it. I'm giving myself a month without sugar. I think it'll be great... hard... but great.

Also, I'm contemplating eating meat. I've pretty much only eaten it when people have made it for me and once when I really wanted a hamburger. Sometimes I think I needed a better source of protein that is low-cal. We'll see where this idea goes.

I've been really committed to my workout regimen this year. It's been a pain considering all the New Years resolution gym-goers. I hate going to they gym when it is super crowded. If I go right after work I feel like I have to fight for a cardio machine. I don't like it. I cannot wait until February when most of those people give up (sad but true, I see it every year).

I have been doing these workouts and let me tell you that they are not for the weak-minded. Every time I complete a workout I feel great! It's more of a mental challenge than a physical one. There were times where I didn't know I could push my body that far - like 110 pushups far.

SIDENOTE Dustin's band is playing at Herman's Hideaway again, only this time they aren't taking part of the new band showcase. I've been told that this is a big deal for them. Anyway, anyone around the Denver Area should check it out, but you should also let me know because I've been given a lot of tickets. It's on February 3.

Shine on

Well friends, I had an interesting moment last night. I was at Herman's Hideaway for Dustin's band's show with a bunch of my other friends.

Dustin is one of my best friends. We have been close since high school and I love him like a brother, but sometimes I have no idea how in the world we are friends.

I was sitting at a table with most of my friends when someone mentioned football. I made a comment about Cam Newton and 3/4 of the people (the people who are my friends) had no idea who Cam Newton was. Really... Hiesman trophy winner... BCS Championship... Major scandal...

Really???

So I sat there with my friends, realizing I had very little in common with these people who love to play music and go to shows. Then there was my other group of friends there with varied interests, but very few of those interests coincide with any of my interests.

How did I become friends with these people??

I sought refuge with Dustin's parents. His father is an avid sports fan and likes when I come around because we can talk sports. His mom likes it because she doesn't have to pretend like she cares about sports when I'm there.

On a nice bonus, the band that played just before Dustin's band was The Statesboro Revue, from Austin, Texas.

I really liked the band. I went home and listened to some of the songs on the record and decided I liked the music better live.

Here's a taste:

P.S. I love Cam Newton, scandal and all.
P.P.S. did anyone see Jimmer Fredette's 47-point performance against Utah - AMAZING

Eddie Spaghetti… with the meatball eyes.

Today is January 11, which means that it is my darling younger cousin’s 20th Birthday!
It’s hard to believe that he is no longer a teenager. It was hard for me to believe when he was in high school, when he graduated high school, and now he’s almost done with Junior College!

I think that part of me will always think of him as a tall lanky little kid with an shockingly deep voice.

A few of my favorite things about Eddie:

1. He cannot carry much of a tune, but that does not stop him from belting out songs in the car.
2. Chumbawama
3. I don’t know anyone who has grown up submerged in the game of baseball more than Ed, and he still takes every opportunity soak more in. It’s paid off for him.
4. His fierce love of all things Notre Dame Football.
5. He is has a great sense of humor, is hard working and kind hearted.

Check out Eddie’s baseball info here.

Snow

It snowed hard on Sunday. I love the peace that seems to blanket the world when it's snow. I was outside shoveling and just sat there and listened to the silence. Occasionally you could hear the dull hum of a car, the crunching of the snow against someone's shoes or tires, but that was it.

Unfortunately, driving in the snow is much less enjoyable. As is dealing with the melting snow the following day. Grrr....
At least I enjoyed it for a while.

Here are some photos I took from my new phone

I Wanna Have Your Babies

What started out as typically normal ended up becoming a long, tiresome day.

Three people at worked told me that I looked sad today, there must be something wrong. I don't feel sad. I don't feel particularly joyful but still...

Dinner with Ms. Whitrock who is visiting from Munich. It was interrupted by the news that my dad was in the ER. I ran off the see him, after seeing this week's episode of How I Met Your Mother, how could I not???

Dad's ok, but my 20 minute drive home at 11 p.m. with the iPod on random brought up this little gem.

Honestly, is this not exactly the way that most women think? I swear this is what I hear from my friends. The second they meet someone they are decided if they could be in a long-term relationship with a man. Even if said woman isn't ready for a commitment... we have issue.

2011

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am for 2011! 2010 was a great year, it was a bit of a roller coaster and I had some great experiences and it can tell that this next year is going to be just as great!

There are so many things to look forward this year. I used to hate the passing of time, growing up, becoming an adult. Today I like it. Tomorrow might be a different story.
