Happiness Despite my Issues

I’m still sick. Last night my teeth hurt so bad that I felt like they were being ripped out of my gums by a mean invisible person.

The whole right side of my face feels like it is going to explode so I forced myself to visit the doctor today to get taken care of.

I have a sinus infection on top of incredibly aggravated allergies (yes it’s March and has been snowing and the green stuff hasn’t even started growing, this summer is going to be rough on my allergies). I got antibiotics and a new nasal allergy sale.

As my new doctor was taking my medical history she was surprised by the nasty bout I had with pertussis a few years ago – yeah that’s the whooping cough. Miserable couple of months. That was when she decided I needed a new tetanus shot. So I got one of those. (you’re immunized against pertussis with that shot).

I begrudgingly forced myself into work for the rest of the day. When I called my boss she told me to take the rest of the day off, “That’s what your PDO’s are for.”

I wanted to shout, “No, those are for my vacations.” But instead I said I know. See at the corporate offices you only get eight personal days a year and you don’t start accruing vacation for six months. Meaning – all my vacation days need to come from my PDO’s.

So my teeth still feel like they’re trying the rip themselves away from my gums, and my left arms is starting to feel incredibly uncomfortable because of the tetanus shot and I’m sitting at work.

I went out and got this little treat for myself and all I have to say is that a large diet coke with light ice is heavenly on a day like today – plus McDonalds is now sporting the styrofoam cups for the large drinks! I know that it’s worse for the environment but it keeps your drink cooler for longer and I’m a fan of that.

Feels Like Summer Outside.

It’s a beautiful day!!!

I’m so excited for summer, I cannot begin to describe the longing in my heart for summer weather!

Sorry for the lack of posting recently but between the moving adjustments and a nasty case of the sniffles, that really did keep me down for a few days, I just haven’t had the time or the energy to blog.

But here I am, back at it.

Just a few thoughts for you:

I’m getting bangs on Thursday and I cannot wait. It’s a gamble as to how this hairstyle will look on my face but I’m bored with my hair and I think it’s better than chopping it all off.

Duke made it to the final four! The team I picked to win it all is the only final four team I got right.

I’m going to start an MBA program ASAP! I feel like I’m not progressing right now and I’m going stir crazy. I was planning on waiting for a year or two but I figure the sooner I get it the better. I don’t want to let go of my job right now so I will do a professional MBA program, hopefully with an emphasis in marketing. I’ve narrowed down the programs and I’ll let you know what happens….

I love change!

Mother Nature - You Mean Temptress

It's about to snow a foot tonight. It snowed about half of that on Friday, in blizzard form. Then on Saturday it was 60 degrees out.

Yesterday was almost 70, today it's supposed to snow.

I really want this:

Instead I'm hoping for so much snow that we get a snow day from work (I feel like a little kid wishing for a day off of school).

Ha Ha Ha

I was looking at seriously so blessed and the song that played on the Web site was Party in the USA by Miley Cryus, it remined me of this awesome parody that I heard when I was in Miami for my old job.

I wanted to share this with you all in honor of my favorite Cuban player, Kendry Morales, who defectred from Cuba after 10 unsuccessfull attempts. Also, this goes out to my favorite half-Cuban Rachel.

Pure Exhaustion

This move is much more exhausting than I imagined it could be.

Every night when I have fallen asleep I feel like a few seconds pass by and then I'm awake, and it is not fun. I'm so tired that I almost tried to take a nap, but I didn't have enough time before the BYU game last night.

This brings me to my next topic, DirecTV. We have it now and it is awesome. Janessa got a great TV with her tax returns and all of the HD channels look amazing. Not only did we get the Hd package, but we have the MLB network.

I am literally sitting here watching the DVR recording of 30 Clubs in 30 Days about the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. I'm just loving it!

Last year we had the MLB Network four about a week and I was obsessed with 30 Clubs in 30 Days. It's awesome. They visit all 30 baseball clubs in spring training. not only do they break down the talent of the teams but you see an entertaining portrayal of the coaches and the players.

The Angels' Spring Training has been going well and I'm excited for opening day. I was a little nervous with Lackey going to the Red Sox (it is painful to say that because of how much I dislike the Red Sox and how good Lackey is).

A lot of statisticians have said that the Angels aren't going to be as good this year as they have been in the past and the Rangers are going to give them some trouble in the division, but I still think there is an expectation of winning in the clubhouse and they will find a way.

Matsui is with the Angels now and I love reading this blog because some of the writers will make comments about the Japanese media that follow him around, it's a bit entertaining.

Adventures in Moving

I am exhausted. In an effort to preserve my personal days for vacations down the road, I decided to make the big move after work. I don’t accrue vacation until I’m at the company for over six months, so for the time being I’m trying not to take any time off.

I moved so much stuff yesterday! After work I went to my mom’s house where she and Cris helped me move my bed a few other things. After a quick dinner break I headed to my dad’s house to get the other big items and then I spent several hours unpacking all of my stuff.

Moving is exhausting. I am cutting back on sleep and my attention snap is shot because of it. Everything takes twice the amount of normal concentration. Just typing alone is quite a task.

But on the bright side, I have an apartment. I’ve got stuff to furnish it with and we’ve got an awesome plan for our kitchen table and I’m so excited, I just need about 16 hours of sleep before I’ll be able to show my excitement.

Can't Get Enough

Double OT!!!!

How awesome was that. In case you missed it, here it the game story.

Man I miss my old job.

I love March Madness, I don’t know if y’all saw Murray State beat Vanderbilt with a buzzer beater but I was walking passed the TV’s in the lobby and I saw the last four seconds and it was amazing!

I love championship time.

March is Awesome

Remember how much I don’t like February and how I love March??!!

Well, I still feel that way. March is so exciting. It is supposed to be close to 60 degrees today and I’m feeling good about that (I’m going to pretend like it wasn’t snowing yesterday).

I started filling out brackets for March Madness and I love it. I can’t wait for the games to start. LITTLE KNOWN FACT – I always choose Duke to win it all – always have and always will.

I don’t even have a great loyalty toward Duke, but I don’t like North Carolina so there. And the one time I went to North Carolina (for the NCAA Softball Regional which was actually at Chapel Hill) I stayed closer to Duke.

Let’s just take a minute to discuss the wonderful things that March has brought thus far.

1.Brady Quinn – coming to Denver!!! It is yet to be determined if he’ll be any better than Orton, but he is much nicer to look at.

2.Spring Training – I love reading about baseball again!

3.Spring Football – Just starting and it’s so exciting. I think the 2010 college football season is going to be very interesting.

4.New Apartment – moving in on Thursday!!!

5.New Shoes – seriously I got the most amazing pair of studded pumps, they are five inch heels so I’m ridiculously tall in them but they look amazing!

6.Nice Weather – It’s been so nice that I’ve been able to play outside on the weekends.

7.March Madness – It’s starting this week and it’s going to be great!

Sad...

Today I wanted to cry.

That is being a little dramatic, but the realization that I am not going to be working with a baseball team this season is starting to sink it.

Please do not misunderstand me, because I am so grateful to have a job right now. I have met so many people who have recently graduated and cannot find a job. It makes me incredibly grateful.

Today is the home opener for the BYU baseball team. Right now they’re up 4-2 against Washington and hopefully they could pull through with a win.

I just miss being in the press box, I miss tracking down the lineups and posting them for the media – the pre-game meals.

I miss prying open the windows of the press box in an effort to better understand the umpire when he calls balls and strikes and having to crank the heat up because of the cold air rushing in from the window.

My heart hurts a lot. This feeling reminds me of the feeling you get when a boy you used to date starts dating someone – you feel replaced, cast aside. I don’t like it.

I’m an ambi-turner!

At the end of January, when I was afraid of losing my job I finally got around to seeing the dermatologist for my regular screening. She took three biopsies and all three of them came back with varying degrees of abnormal tissue (meaning that left alone it would eventually turn into Melanoma).

I’m starting to get used to this. Over the last two years of my life I’ve had several biopsies and a couple of them have been abnormal. My father’s history of Melanoma, combined with the amount of sun I saw playing in softball tournaments all summer long makes me an excellence candidate for skin cancer – plus I’m just about as fair skinned as snow white.

This morning I got the stitches out on the third removal – right behind my right ear. I’ve only been able to turn to the left for over a week now and I’m so excited to turn to the right again (watch Zoolander for the ambi-turner explanation).

Unfortunately my pale skin is also incredibly sensitive so I had an allergic reaction to my bandages. I have a great little rash now that itches like crazy.

The doctor said I should keep it covered for another week but because of the bad reaction I can smother it in the healing goo during the day and only cover it at night – to protect it from reopening and popping the stitches that are under the skin.

Did I mention that it itches – and that they back of my ear is covered in good…? Bad combination.

At least I’m done with stitches and can turn right again – March is already better than February.

March, where have you been all my life

February was a long month, espeically considering that it only consists of 28 days. For those of you who have followed my blog for at least a year, and by that I mean my mom, you'll remember this post describing my general feeling toward the gray and dreary month.

But March is here! I love March!

I haven't had a lot of time to write but hopefully that is going to change soon! Here are a list of things that I have been thinking about expanding upon.

I have discovered so many wonderful new little blogs that need to be shared - beware that none of them have to do with sports

I love my friends, all of them.

I had a lot of stiches in the month of February (more incentive to hate the month) and I have eight left and they itch like crazy!!! I can't wait to get them out.

Spring Training is here and I can hardly wait for Opening Day. Oh how I've missed baseball season.

I miss the softball team like crazy.

I'm working on a side project and when it is better developed I will share it with all of you. It's satirical commentary on my life in an LDS singles ward.

I'm inspired by the people around me who are so talented. Check out my photographer friend Jenny's blog.

Everyday I am baffled by the kindness of people around me, don't worry it is oftentimes mixed my shock at the appalling actions of others, but I find hope in the random acts of kindness people perform.

I can't wait to take a vacation.

I'm hoping to move really soon!!! Cut down my commute time and get to spend more time at home, plus get an awesome roommate and a fantastic apartment.

I realized I have a commitment problem - more on that later.
